Shared Equity Models for Affordable Housing
Given the significant rise in the cost of buying a home over the last number of years in Israel, the public discourse is awash with potential affordable housing solutions.
This research focuses on one such potential solution: a shared equity model, whereby a government actor serves as a second owner or guarantor of home purchases. The study reviews a number of different versions of the shared equity model, and discusses the viability of each in the context of the current housing market and regulatory structure in Israel.
