Developing of innovative financing options and risk management for the electricity sector transition in Israel

Events

The Milken Center for Innovation and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure conducted a Financial Innovation Lab on the developing of innovative financing options and risk management for the electricity sector transition in Israel.

Open, liquid and competitive wholesale energy markets are essential factors for the transition to the use of renewable energy and smart grid and low carbon energy systems (decarbonization). Massive investments are necessary, for this purpose, among other things, to enable manufacturers to have effective risk management that will allow them to commit to the necessary investments.  In addition, the markets will be able to benefit from greater certainty regarding the future conditions of climate risk under which it will operate.

The discussion was led by Professor Yigal Neuman in collaboration with Mr. Ran Shmueli, a fellow at the Milken Innovation Center at the Jerusalem Institute for Policy Research. This Financial Innovations Lab  facilitated a meeting and discussion of professionals, researchers and business and public policy makers in order to discuss ideas and strategies related to the development of financing and risk management options for the electricity sector in Israel.
