• The Center held a Financial Innovations Lab on New Models for Financing Water Sustainable in California on July 13, 2015 in Jerusalem. Over 70 Israeli and California government, investment, and technology leaders attended the Lab.  International visitors included:  Prof. Yoram Cohen, Water Center, UCLA; Prof. David Sunding, Water Center, UC Berkeley; Kathleen Brown – Manatt Phelps and Phillips; Former Head of Goldman Sachs Public Sector and Infrastructure Group; Former California State Treasurer; Scott Houston, West Basin Municipal Water District;  Robert Feyer, Orrick;  Kristen Victor, Sustainability Matters, San Diego Water Task Force; Prof. James Famiglietti, UC-Irvine, Jet Propulsion Laboratory/NASA; Tim Strobel, Opterra Energy; and Michelle Moskowitz, Office of the Chancellor, UC Berkeley.
  • Global Health Lab in March 2015 with 40 key life science professionals and policy makers develop a roadmap to bring new sources of capital to finance the commercialization of health technologies in Israel and California. The Lab is leading to scalable solutions to finance orphan drugs using innovative financial techniques.
  • The California-Israel Global Innovation Partnership panel at the Globes Business Conference in Tel Aviv, included The Honorable Richard Bloom, Member, California State Assembly, 50th District, Yariv Cohen, Chairman, Kaennat; Jay Keasling, CEO, Joint BioEnergy Institute, Distinguished Professor of Biochemical Engineering, University of California, Berkeley; Director, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; Amir Peleg, Founder and CEO, TaKaDu; Chairman, Smart Water Network Forum, and was moderated by Michelle Moskowitz, University of California, Berkeley, Office of the Chancellor.
  • The California Institute for Regenerative Medicine and Israel’s Industry Center for R&D have announced a cooperative agreement that aims to improve research into stem cell therapies and regenerative medicine. The agreement will allow researchers from California and Israel to apply for joint research funding and share information.
  • The Los Angeles City Council established a joint task force on water and clean technology development as part of the California-Israel Global Innovation Project.
  • Six global fellows participated in internships in Israel.  The California-based fellows participated in water and technology development projects at Netafim, Our Crowd, Israel Venture Network, and with the Milken Innovation Center.
